Warm Up With Class

Gorgeous coat currently for sale. I got this lovely one in Burbank California not too far from the TV studios. I wonder if it had any silver screen time?

Oh The Places They Go...

Been nearly a year since I have paid keyboard attention to this blog. I gave up my booth in a brick and mortar antique store and turned my retail focus strictly to online. I am no longer hauling merch to flea markets either. It's all Etsy all the time for this vintage seller. I can aptly tout myself as an international business woman which is interesting since my father was an international sales rep for Raytheon back in the hey day of selling war supplies to countries in the Middle East and before that South America. The vintage military years of 1960s to the early 1980s. He retired to a Florida panhandle beach and died a few years later from pancreatic cancer. He spent his post Air Force career traveling to many of the places my vintage merchandise goes.

Yesterday I sent this jacket to Warwickshire England - to the town where Rugby was invented. The buyer is a 1940s reenactment gal - Lindy Hop - that sort of thing. I love thinking about this jacket swinging to the music of its time.

A few weeks ago I sent this dress to Qatar. Still waiting for its arrival. Fingers crossed three times. I had to Google map the place to see where it is...Middle East.
I am still not in love with my mannequin and she is a total pain in the rear to work with. Arms on arms off and a constant wobble to her stand. Luckily she does not scare off potential buyers.

This classic SuperFly lobby card went to Osaka. The buyer is thrilled with it!

And yesterday I sent this awesome old garden tool off to Annapolis which is just an hour's drive from my home town near Washington DC.  Let's hope she uses it to wack the heads off weeds and not victims like the cruel crazy killers in my favorite show Midsommer Murders. Gosh I just love that Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby. He reminds me of Sherlock Holmes.

Alley Up

Just packaged and kissed goodbye this great dinerware plate. Imagining the new owner eating a pancake breakfast or a mile high stacked sandwich and a pile of potato chips off this beauty. Or maybe just hanging it on the wall - adding to a collection. Sometimes selling cool vintage stuff is heartbreaking. But - hey - I was never a bowler after all.

Smashing Frames

Some lucky gal in the midwest will be sporting these lovely frames. She plucked them from my Etsy shop just last week - and what a sweet bargain!

They remind me of Andy Warhol...what do you think?

I've got tons more frames I'll be adding to my store in the next few days. Don't let your peepers be subjected to Costco or Lens Crafters lemming redundancy.

I watched this film the other night called Savage Grace.

It stars Julianne Moore who I think is an outstanding actress. Her talent shines through in this film. I was captivated by the extreme personality of the woman she portrayed, the wife of the heir to the Bakelite plastic fortune. Brooks Baeklande is a calculated and cold sort of man who has basically been served a life on a silver platter. His wife, Barbara, a former sales clerk marries him and falls perfectly in step with the high brow lifestyle. Unfortunately she has some deep rooted character flaws that take a twisted toll on their son.

Here's a link to the book that the film was based on...from Amazon.com
Savage Grace

The costuming and the set design in this film are well worth the agonizing through the tragic family tale, not to mention the artful performances by Ms. Moore and the actor who plays her son. I do wish they'd had her wearing some bakelite jewelry only to satisfy my passion for the plastic.

I just sold a pair of Lucite earrings from my Etsy store. Here's a picture of them. They are on their way to a smart shopper from Georgia tomorrow via the USPS.

Speaking of feed sacks...

I know the last thing you want to think about the day after a holiday feast...but this site is fantastic. They offer reproduction feed sacks to use for vintage decor. You've got to take a look...they've even got something called "exotic cowhides."

Feed Sacks?

Wow, who would have imagined a book filled with photos of vintage feed sacks? Certainly not my grandfather when he was throwing out chicken feed to his barnyard of hens at his Wetumpka, Alabama farm. Oh if only he were alive today to see a book like this one.
